
One dies in Null Bazaar bldg collapse
One person was killed when a portion of a five-storey building at Null Bazaar in South Mumbai collapsed this morning. The Adenwala building was undergoing repairs when a portion on its east side collapsed. According to the fire department, Abdulla Khan 32 who was trapped under the debris was rescued. However, he was declared dead before admission when taken to the J J Hospital.
Meanwhile, 36 residents on the west side got the scare of their lives as they watched the other side collapse. Too scared to get down, they stayed in their apartments till the fire brigade arrived from Dadar. The residents, including 15 women and eight children, were then brought down the building using ladders.
Bank looted at Bandra
Four armed unidentified persons barged into the Bandra branch of Samata Sahakari Co-operative Bank and robbed Rs 8 lakh on Tuesday afternoon.According to the police, the robbers were armed with choppers and revolvers and threatened the staff.The Bandra police station has registered a case of robbery. Investigations are on.
Two hurt in firing at Bandra
Two persons were injured when they were fired at by unidentified persons near the Galaxy Theatre, Bandra west today. According to the police, Fazal Rahman Abdul Rahman 36 and Zulfikar Rahman 17 were injured when some unidentified persons shot at them. Both of them received minor injuries and were admitted to the Bhabha Hospital, police said adding the motive behind the crime is not yet known.
Rains to continue in Mumbai
Intermittent showers will continue to lash Mumbai accompanied by squally winds, thundershowers and lightning in the next 24 hours. A Weather Bureau spokesman said the danger level signal number three has been hoisted for fishermen warning them against venturing into the sea due to the rough conditions.
