Pravin Manohar Pallav 25 was sitting by the window on an Andheri-bound local. As the train left Bandra station, he was hit by a stone injuring him above his eye at around 3.15 pm.

After he got off at Khar Road station, Pallav was taken to the V N Desai hospital at Santacruz where he was treated and discharged immediately. A case has been lodged at the Bandra railway police station under Section 152 of the Indian Railway Act. A day earlier, the railway police had caught drug addict Santosh Shinde red-handed while throwing stones at a local.

6 kg of heroin seized, 3 held

Three Sri Lankan nationals were arrested from a hotel for possession of six kg of heroin worth Rs six crore in the international market from Dongri on Thursday.

Officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau NCB, who effected the smugglers,identified two as Mohammed Rushdie and Imtiaz. The latter led to the arrest of one Rauf, according to NCB Director S C Rohatgi. The contraband, found concealed in the false bottom of two leather bags, was to be sent to Sri Lanka via Chennai and then to Europe, he added. While Rauf has been remanded to NCB8217;s custody, the other two have been remanded to judicial custody.

Further investigations are in progress.

Sena-RPI clash causes tension

Tension prevailed in the Ambedkar Nagar locality of Vile Parle after police arrested two Shiv Sainiks and two Republican Party of India RPI workers following a scuffle between members of the two parties on Thursday night.

A tomato was thrown, allegedly by RPI members, at a cultural programme organised by local Sainiks on the occasion of Ram Navami, leading to the fight. No one was injured.

The Ambedkar Nagar area is prone to political tension because the offices of the Sena and RPI are very close to each other.
