
After knocking the doors of the Centre for a special economic package, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today demanded another booster for the eastern parts of the state and Bundelkhand from 12th Finance Commission chairman C. Rangarajan.
While pleading the state8217;s case, Mulayam also questioned the Terms of Reference of the Commission for allocation of funds on the basis of 8216;8216;population factor8217;8217;. 8216;8216;By using 30-year-old population figures as base to determine the quantum of funds allocation, the Commission has denied basic needs of the population that has been added during this period,8217;8217; he said during the meeting.
8216;8216;The CM has demanded a special package for Bundelkhand and eastern UP and the Commission will take its decision after deliberations. The CM has also drawn our notice to the debt trap, in which the state is finding itself helpless,8217;8217; said Rangarajan.
