VADODARA, June 8: Ministers in the central and state government hailing from Mehsana district were felicitated at a function organised by the Mehsana Samaj Nagrik Sanman Samiti here on Sunday. The samiti honoured them by presenting them bouquets and mementoes.

Ministers were honoured included Union Textile Minister Kashi Ram Rana, Union Minister of State for Fertiliser A K Patel, Narmada Development and Heavy Irrigation minister Jaynarayan Vyas, Agriculture and Medium Irrigation Minister Nitinbhai Patel, Water Supply and Mines minister Narottambhai Patel and Minister of State for Industry and Tourism Khodabhai Patel.

The function was held under the presidentship of city mayor Ratilal Desai. Bharatiya Janata Party’s state unit vice-president Nalinbhai Bhatt was the special guest on the occasion.

N V Patel, an office-bearer of the Samiti and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Vadodara Municipal committee, highlighted the problems being faced by the people in Mehsana, particularly, in rural segments during the function.

According to Patel, the water table in Mehsana had depleted to 1200 feet and number of people suffering due to the high fluoride content in water had been rising everyday.

He also raised the issue of desert advancement towards Mehsana, inadequate supply of power, poor roads and lack of educational institutions in his district.

Speaking on the occasion, Union textile Minister Kashi Ram Rana said that it was the responsibility of the elected representatives from the area to look after the requirements of their electorates and solve their problems.Rana, who represents Surat in Lok Sabha, assured his full co-operation to help the people in Mehsana.
