Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov denied on Thursday accusations by Georgian leaders that Moscow had hand in the death of Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania.
Describing the claim by Georgian leaders as ‘‘politically motivated,’’ Lavrov told reporters that ‘‘the assertions of those who hasten to make politically motivated conclusions will weigh upon their conscience.’’ He was referring to a remark by Georgian majority leader Alexander Shalamberidze that a recent terrorist attacks which killed three people and Zhvania’s death were connected and Moscow was behind them.
