
The residents of Gurgaon have reason to cheer. The infrastructure in sectors under the Haryana Urban Development Authority HUDA will be upgraded soon. Of this, 75 per cent of the total expenditure will be borne by HUDA and the rest 25 per cent by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam DHBVN.
According to a HUDA spokesperson, sector-wise schemes are being prepared for upgrading power infrastructure in all sectors developed by HUDA. He added the DHBVN has also decided to give power supply for streetlights through exclusive electricity lines by installing independent transformers so as to have better control and give reliable supply for street lighting. DHBVN has been asked to prepare estimates for the plan immediately which is to be completed at the cost of the municipalities and HUDA. The DHBVN is also mooting a plan to revamp power distribution system in 17 towns in its area under Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme 8211;II APDRP-II of the Centre. The plan will soon be sent to the Centre for approval.
The HUDA official added that a special plan has been prepared to strengthen power supply infrastructure for industries at a cost of Rs. 31.56 crores in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Dharuhera, Bawal and Rewari. Under this plan domestic and industrial load would be segregated to give supply to industries through exclusive feeders, overloaded feeders would be bifurcated and old conductor would be replaced to renovate the distribution system. The Nigam has decided in principal to bifurcate all the feeders, in urban as well as rural areas, having over 150 ampere load.

To tackle the increasing demand of power in Gurgaon, a 400/220 KV gas isulated substation GIS will be operational from June next year.

Land: Underground station which saves upto 25 of land compared to conventional sub-stations
Area: 9.5 acre
Estimated cost: Rs 170-cr
The sub-station would be connected to Bhiwadi at one end and Ballabhgarh at the other.
