
JAMMU, AUG 16: A fresh batch of 2,631 pilgrims today left Jammu for Chandanwari, base camp of holy cave shrine of Amarnath raising the total number of pilgrims leaving for Kashmir to more 79,000, according to police.
The fresh batch of pilgrims left in 120 vehicles from city high security MAM Stadium, police said.
Of the 2,631 pilgrims, 1,695 were males, 648 females, 32 children and 256 sadhus, police said.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 1,572 pilgrims arrived in Jammu today from other parts of country.
