
NEW DELHI, Oct 27: With a 26th minute goal by Sully Moosa, East Bengal scored a 1-0 win over a laid-back Mahindra and Mahindra Mumbai to ensure a semi-final clash with Mohun Bagan in the Kelvinator-Durand Cup today.
Earlier, in an inconsequential match, Punjab State Electricty downed Army XI 2-1.
In the first semi-final tomorrow, Mahindras will take on Group A winners Air India in an all-Mumbai affair. Mahindras finished second in Group B with six points from two wins and one loss while East Bengal topped the group with seven points.
As both East Bengal and Mahindras had already made it to the last four, today8217;s match was a mere formality with the only importance being that it had to decide who meets who in the semi-finals.
Seeing Mahindras8217; laid back attitude, East Bengal decide to do the scoring and their Ghanaian striker Sulley Musah netted the all-important goal.
Earlier, Sukhbir Singh opened the account for PSEB in the 38th minute off a Kuldip cross while the latter consolidated the lead,three minutes into the second half. Irudayaraj reduced the margin for Army in the 65th minute.
