Chief commander of the one of the biggest terrorist organisations operating in the Jammu 038; Kashmir, Mohammad Yusuf Shah, otherwise known as Syed Salahuddin is based in the PoK and from there he commands a platoon of an estimated 1500 armed terrorist who carry out his orders without any second thoughts.

Salahuddin tried the 8216;mainstream8217; politics option once when he unsuccessfully contested the J038;K assembly election in 1987 on a Muslim United Front ticket but subsequently thought that taking the path of violence will serve his 8216;purpose8217; better.

Drawing the initial cadre from the JKLF and getting the patronage of the ISI, Hizb under Salahuddin has become a major cause of concern for the Indian Govt and is a major obstacle in India8217;s bid to establish peace in the valley.
