Minorities panel seeks 145;impartial146; probe into encounter

A delegation led by Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman Kamal Faruqui on Monday met Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna and demanded an 8220;impartial8221; probe into the shootout in Batla House on September 19.

A delegation led by Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman Kamal Faruqui on Monday met Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna and demanded an 8220;impartial8221; probe into the shootout in Batla House on September 19. While two terrorists were killed in the encounter, another was arrested from the spot that day. Faruqui and commission members S Pushpinder Singh and Arnold James have 8220;sought an impartial investigation to ascertain whether the people against whom police action was taken were actually involved in any terrorist activity8221;, a Raj Niwas statement said. The statement said the L-G has assured the delegation that due weightage would always be given to their advice and concerned issues will be looked into with impartiality and compassion.
