SOLAN, Nov 18: The police yesterday impounded a Maruti car belonging to Brij Mohan Singla, Haryana Minister for Industrial Training and Vocational Education, near Dharampur on the Kalka-Shimla national highway, for violation of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Additional Superintendent of Police Himanshu Mishra said that during a routine traffic checking in the presence of Chief Judicial Magistrate K K Sharma, the police intercepted a white Maruti Esteem car (NO HR-15-B-004), the occupants of which were repeatedly using the siren. A red light had also been installed on the vehicle.

When the occupants were asked to show the documents, Anchal Singh, who introduced himself as the son of the minister, could not produce any documents. Anchal Singh, who was driving the vehicle, accompanied with his three friends, was coming from Shimla to Chandigarh.

The police challaned and impounded the vehicle for using a siren, installing a red light unauthorizedly and travelling without valid documents under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
