
MUMBAI, JUNE 7: Labour minister Sabir Shaikh and his bodyguards assaulted an inspector from the Central Industrial Security Force CISF for not allowing him to pass through a thoroughfare at the high-security premise of Rashtriya Chemical Fertilisers RCF at Trombay on Sunday evening.
Shaikh along with his entourage of bodyguards wanted to use the gate no 2 of RCF at Trombay for come out and continue on his journey towards Thane at around 5.30 pm. However, the CISF personnel posted at the gate informed him that as a follow-up to developments in Kargil sector security has been stepped up and he has to get necessary clearance from the control room.
The CISF inspector Jiwan Dhiwar even suggested that as Shaikh was a minister, he may be allowed to pass but not his entourage which included two Contessa cars and two Tata Sumo. The minister, enraged at the inspector8217;s suggestion, got down from his car and even before Dhiwar could contact his superior on the wireless, slapped him twice. Shaikh8217;s bodyguardsfollowed suit with fisting and punches.
The assault provoked other 20 CISF personnel nearby who threatened to attack in retaliation. A complaint of assault was registered against the minister and his bodyguards at the RCF police station.
