The recent 8216;8216;mini budget8217;8217; announced by the Centre showed that the BJP had no faith in the people and confidence in the work it had done in the last five years, Lok Janashakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan said today.
Paswan also said that he would meet MDMK general secretary and POTA detainee Vaiko tomorrow when the latter is produced before the POTA court to discuss the Lok Sabha elections.
8216;8216;The BJP says that the anti-incumbency factor played a major role in the recent Assembly elections where it won in three states. The same thing will happen in the forthcoming general elections,8217;8217; Paswan said at a news conference here.
He added that the BJP would not get more seats than its present strength in the Lok Sabha. On the other hand, the number is going to come down, he said.
On the list of achievements read out by the Centre, Paswan felt it was all part of a propaganda launched by the Government. 8216;8216;Vajpayee had assured that the Government would provide jobs to one crore people every year. If that was the case, it should have created five crore fresh jobs by now. The assurance has remained only on paper till date.8217;8217;
The prices of essential commodities, particularly petrol and diesel, increase every fortnight. 8216;8216;The Centre had secured Rs 35,000 crore through disinvestment of public sector undertakings. But where has all the money gone?8217;8217; he questioned.
Saying that caste-based reservation policy should be extended to the private sector also, Paswan demanded that the Centre should convene a special session of Parliament to discuss this and also the delimitation of constituencies. The delimitation should be based on the 1991, if not the 2001 census report, he added.
