
MUMBAI, SEPT 25: Officers of the Anti Corruption Bureau ACB on Wednesday raided the house of a junior engineer attached to the Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority MHADA and found assets worth around Rs 50 lakh disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Forty-five-year-old Ramkhilavan Tiwari was attached to MHADA8217;s Slum Development Department as a junior engineer for the last 20 years.
Investigations revealed that Tiwari had transferred most of the assets in the name of his wife to escape the attention of the ACB and the Income Tax department. Besides possessing a flat and a medical store in Kalyan, he also owned two flats and four shops at Mira Road, on the outskirts of the metropolis.
The raiding party recovered four cars in addition to money deposited in three banks in the city. The accused could not account for the funds recovered.
More than 25 officers were part of the raid conducted at Tiwari8217;s residence near J B Nagar, Andheri East. The operation lasted more than 12 hoursand is considered to be one of the few major hauls this year.
