BANGALORE, July 7: Madras Engineering Group MEG and Centre pugilists came out with flying colours storming into the finals in four of the six categories in the Army Boxing Championship here today.

Azaz Alam of MEG was the most impressive winner when he outsmarted A.S. Sawarkar of Signals in the second round to book his berth in the finals. He meets R. Prajuli of Gorkha Brigade Centre in the finals tomorrow.

The other MEG boxers who made it to the title round were K. Mani in lt welter, G. Periyar in lt heavy and K.A. Nanaiah in super heavy weight category.

Results: Fly: R. Prajuli GBC bt Holkhomang Baite Asm on points; Azaz Alam Meg bt A.S. Sawarkar, RSC I 2nd round.

Feather: Ramand Sigs bt Sanjay Gowda BEG-K RSC h 5th round; P Srinakt Army bt Satish Yadav MEG on points.

Lt welter: Kishan Singh Beg-R bt Jitender Pal. RSC h 2nd round; K. Mani Meg bt Ghan bahadur Garh Rif, RSC h fourth round.

Lt Middle: Hayat Singh Kumaon bt Suresh Kumar Mech-Inf, retired second round; Y.S. Thapa GBC bt K. Babu Rao Meg on points.

Lt heavy: Gosman Ajay Sewace Guards bt T.V. Ramana RSC first round; Periyar Meg bt Dayal Singh Sikhli, RSC I second round.

Super heavy: K. A.Nanaiah Meg bt Bajjit Singh Arty on points; Gridhari Singh Sigs bt Ravinder Patil Maratha I RSC OC first round.
