Media centre inaugurated

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda inaugurated a fully equipped, hi-tech Media Centre on the eight floor of Haryana Civil Secretariat, today.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda inaugurated a fully equipped, hi-tech Media Centre on the eight floor of Haryana Civil Secretariat, today. Spread over an area of 7,000 square feet, the centre has been set up at a cost of Rs 1 crore. The chief minister also announced to institute a Lifetime Achievement Award and other incentives for mediapersons.

Clarifying the definition of a 8220;journalist8221; for the Journalist Welfare Fund set up by the state government, he said those persons whose main source of income comes from journalism would get financial assistance from the fund, irrespective if they are accredited by the state government or not.

Hooda said in case of sudden death of a journalist, an ex-gratia would be provided to his or her kin out of the fund. He also introduced the facility of press accreditation at block level by giving press accreditation cards to three mediapersons. The mediapersons will also be provided electronic lockers, with one GB space to store their data. In addition, 30 physical lockers would be allotted. The CM handed over the keys of first such locker to veteran journalist N S Parwana.

The press room has a theatre system, wide-screen LCD TV sets. A centrex telephone system has been installed. An Information Centre equipped with 10 computers, fax and internet facility has also been set up at the Media Centre. Hooda also announced a grant of Rs one lakh to Haryana Child Welfare Council and 8216;Prayas8217; on World Epilepsy day today.
