Somnath Chatterjee as Speaker is putting to use some of the skills he honed as one of the leading figures of the Opposition in Parliament 8212; winning alliances and friends over food. In the coming days, Chatterjee will host a series of high-teas, lunches and dinners, apparently food for thought, for the BJP-led Opposition that has decided to keep the issue of tainted ministers burning in Parliament in the coming Budget session.

Tomorrow, Chatterjee will hold a tea party for the NDA members at his residence. This will be followed by a dinner for UPA leaders on Saturday.

Once he8217;s through with the Government and Opposition one by one, he will host a lunch for leaders of all political parties. Chatterjee8217;s parties are known for the excellent and varied menu always catered by Bijoli Grill which specialises in Bengali fish delicacies.

With the BJP-led Opposition demanding tainted ministers in Manmohan Singh8217;s Cabinet be removed and the UPA unable to work a way out, it has been left to the Speaker to ensure that the Budget session does not see a repeat of the previous session.

Chatterjee will also call a 8216;8216;formal all-party meeting to evolve a consensus8217;8217; on extending the telecasting rights to Zero Hour of Parliament when most of the 8216;8216;hungama8217;8217; takes place.
