With the live band of Billy and Eliza playing at the background, La Brasserie entered the New Year with lip smacking food. For starters, they had a huge spread of lamb musallam, tandoori steak, tandoori kesari tikki and grilled chicken with cream sauce. For the main course, chef Nadir gave the guests a huge list to choose from; chicken tikka, fish tikka, prawns, paneer tandoori, tandoori mushroom, corn in nuggets, Mexican soup, cream of chicken clear. Dessert, as usual, was mouthwatering with orange cointreau mousse, New York cheesecake, fresh strawberry, rash malai, Dutch chocolate truffle, gajar ki halwa and varieties if ice cream. All this was available for Rs 1499 per person.

Spice it up
Spice Island welcomed the New Year with live band Willy and Fortuna and a top of the line international buffet spread with class and style. They had a mix of Chinese, Thai and continental dishes. For starters, there was Kai Yang, mushroom and baby corn, fish goujons, soup, crabs and prawns. Chef Sanjay Mitra had laid out a huge spread for the main course, including Thai green curry, seafood, chicken kadra, noodles, steamed rice, pomphret. The dessert consisted of raisin puddings, various ice creams, chocolate truffle, blueberry cheesecake and a lot more.

Finger-lickin8217; good
Hotel Sentosa bid farewell to 2008 in style with DJ Nelson, Bollywood dancers, tattoo parlors, rocking music and delicious food. There were around 25 delicious food items with a tawa section, varieties of lip smacking, mouthwatering chats, nutritious salads, biryani, both veg and non-veg and a spread of sea food. Desserts consisted of jalebi, ice cream, all prepared by Chef Uttam and his team. What a way to welcome the New Year 8212; with some rocking music, and finger licking good food!

Jazzing it right
Not Just Jazz By The Bay welcomed the New Year with a huge and eclectic spread. From fish fingers, mutton shahi kabbab, bahaldari tikki to a huge main course spread by Chef Satyen8217;s that had the guests hungry for more, there was everything on offer. There was both veg and chicken biryani, daal tarka, buttered rice, murg tandoori salad, chef8217;s special salad, chat salad, and varieties of veg and fish items. Desserts, as usual were mouthwatering with gulab jamuns, fresh strawberry mousse, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. Satisfied guests washed down the delicious meal with a glass of wine, beer and or sparkling wine. Guests availed all these goodies at Rs 750.

Feast for the senses
The new year saw restaurants in the city dishing out delicious fare for guests. Among them, Hotel Chingari at Koregaon Park welcomed the new year with a varied spread. For starters, the non-vegetarians had a difficult time choosing from fish amritsari, to chooza tikka chicken, to shammi kabbab mutton and to murg malai tikka. For vegetarians, there was tadoori aloo, mutter bhari kachori and chutney paneer tikka. For the main course, the non-vegetarians had peshwari lamb, samudri rattan, murg tikka makhanwala, and biryani. For the non-vegetarians there was pindi chole, dum aloo benarasi, sarso ka saag, achari sabzi, daal makhani, and motia pulao. Besides this, they also had assorted Indian bread and makke ki roti. Dessert was a huge success with gajar ki halwa, rasmalai, delicious mouthwatering gulab jamun, rajbhog, all time favourite chocolate truffle cake and strawberry gateau. Besides, there were unlimited drinks for guest and they had to thank Chef Gulam Qurashi, the man responsible for the wonderful spread.
