The BJP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi has said that even as the Congress government has distributed provisional certificates for regularisation, it has failed in specifying the role the corporation will play in this scheme.
MCD Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta alleged the Congress government has invented a new gimmick to misguide about 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies, while keeping an eye on Assembly polls. The provisional certificates are valid only till December and the government has not specified the status of these colonies after that.
Gupta has written to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for clarifications. He has asked whether shops and commercial stretches in unauthorised colonies can be regularised and has the state made any provisions in the 2021 Masterplan for their regularisation.
He has also asked whether funds from the Plan layout provision for Delhi of Rs 10,000 crore can be spent on development work in unauthorised colonies; whether residents of these colonies can construct houses or carry out additional construction after the sanctioning of building plans, once they have received provisional certificates.
“In case we do not get a positive response from the CM we will not let Congress misguide people,” Gupta said.
