Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati attributed the serial blasts in the civil courts in Faizabad, Lucknow and Varanasi to the ‘failure’ on the part of Central intelligence agencies.
“It is unfortunate that the state government had no prior knowledge nor was it alerted by the Central intelligence agencies which are responsible for giving prior information about terrorist incidents,” she said.
“This is proof of complete failure of the Central intelligence agencies,” Mayawati said.
She announced Rs 2 lakh each to the relatives of those killed and Rs 15,000 to those injured.
Mayawati later visited the blast site in Faizabad district court premises and met the injured in hospital inquiring about their well being.
The Chief Minister assured the injured of all possible help from the administration in their treatment, official sources said.
As many as 14 people were killed and 60 injured in serial blasts in court premises at Faizabad, Varanasi and Lucknow.
