Accusing the Mayawati government of unleashing a reign of terror on its political opponents, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the arrest of Independent legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya under POTA was a part of this campaign. Ever since Raja Bhaiya had raised a banner of revolt against the Mayawati government, he and members of his family were being subjected to harassment, he alleged. Demanding withdrawal of POTA, as it is liable to be misused by governments for suppression of political dissent, Yadav said it was contrary to the assurances given by the Home Minister at the time of passing this law in Parliament.
