Massacres in Bihar land-related, caste-based

Dhawan, in his lecture, pointed out that various armed gangs, mostly led by Bhoomihars, came up in response to the Naxalite movement. He explained with the help of statistics and chronology of superficial land-reforms in the state that the killings were more than simply a law and order problem. Though the land-reforms marked the end of the erstwhile zamindars, the lowest castes remained where they were 8212; landless as ever 8212; he said.

Seminar on new projects held
The Centre for Industry Institute Partnership Programme , Punjab University, the Chandigarh Management Association and the University Business School, PU, organised a seminar on 8220;Planning and Implementation of New Projects8221; at Panjab University, here on Monday.

Surinder Singh Virdi, managing director, Anaesthetic Gases Private Limited, who was the chief guest, stated that careful management and planning had to be supplemented with commitment.
