“Prime Minister Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi could not think of anything during all this time other than the Indo-US nuclear deal…never bothered or thought about rising inflation, growing terror attacks in a number of states and worsening agricultural condition,” he said.

Advani claimed the opposition Congress’ claim that anti-incumbency factor will work against the BJP government in the state would fall flat.

A “poisonous campaign” against the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat last year had no effect and the BJP returned to power there, the BJP leader said.

However, he said some BJP MPs and MLAs might suffer due to anti-incumbency factor and asked them to introspect on that.

Party president Rajnath Singh said the BJP is the only party which can protect the integrity of the country.

“Muslims are being misled by being told that the BJP is creating a communal divide … we don’t believe in such politics,” Singh said.

“Congress is now following Muslim League type policy to further divide the country … It has identified 90 Muslim dominated districts in the country. Such religion-based policy will take us nowhere,” he added.
