Man throws two sons into river

Faced with acute poverty, a man threw his two sons into the Saryu river here and was attempting to throw the third one when he was prevented by the locals. Sajay Sahu was about to throw his third son on Tuesday night when locals came at the scene and handed him over to police. Sahu told police that he himself wanted to commit suicide after throwing his third son into the river. Sahu8217;s wife later told police that her husband used to earn a meagre amount by selling kites and the family was on the verge of starvation. An FIR has been registered. Bodies of the two children, identified as Utkarsh and Jeetu, could not be recovered, they said.
