Madhuri weds surgeon in US

November 4: Word is finally out. On October 17, actress Madhuri Dixit, oomph queen and reigning muse of artist M F Husain tied the knot with a US-based doctor. Madhuri got married in a very hush-hush ceremony to Dr Shriram Nene, a surgeon and physician settled in Los Angeles, and flew back to Mumbai today, alone.

Rumours of Madhuri8217;s marriage have been travelling the grapevine for months, and film glosses had long speculated on her US doctor connection. According to Madhuri8217;s secretary Rakeshnath, Nene is a friend of her brother Ajit Dixit, also settled in the US. The two met at Ajit8217;s house last month; Nene proposed and Dixit accepted, said Rakeshnath.

After an insignificant debut in Abodh, Madhuri began climbing to the top after her Ek Do Teen dance number in N Chandra8217;s Tezaab. Scores of hits and critical sucesses followed, including Ram Lakhan, Dil, Beta, Khalnayak and Prahaar . Her last hit was Dil To Pagal Hai two years ago.

According to Rakeshnath,Madhuri will continue to work on select projects8217;. For now, though, there are just two films in the making: Boney Kapoor8217;s Pukar with Anil Kapoor and, of course, M F Husain8217;s Gajagamini.
