M P Singh may be MC chief

CHANDIGARH, May 23: M. P. Singh, a Punjab cadre IAS officer of the 1986 batch, is shortly expected to take over as the next Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, replacing S. K. Gathwal.

According to reliable sources, the name of M. P. Singh has been cleared by the Centre for the post of Municipal Commissioner and orders in this regard are expected by tomorrow. Singh, presently working as MD of Punjab Sugarfed, refused to comment on when he was expected to join.
