Lucky, by God

North Block has a certain peculiarity about its top economists. Both Arvind Virmani, chief economic advisor, Ministry of Finance, and Shubhashis Gangopadhyay, advisor to Finance Minister P Chidambaram are self-confessed atheists. If at all anything, Virmani would rather believe in luck than the gods. Having applied for the top job at the Competition Commission of India CCI and also in the race for the deputy governorship at the Reserve Bank of India, he would hope he is at least once lucky.
