Angered over the mention of human rights violations in Nandigram in the US report, CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta on Friday demanded that the Lok Sabha as well as the Government condemn this foreign interference in India’s domestic affairs. Raising the matter during Zero Hour, Dasgupta said the report amounted to “gross interference” by the Bush Administration. He said anything happening in India “is a concern of the people of this country” and the US should have nothing to do with it. “It deserves condemnation of the House,” he said. Speaker Somnath Chatterjee closed the issue with the observation that “we should treat it with the contempt it deserves.”
