In view of fast growing demand of electricity due to fast pace of development in Gurgaon district, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam DHBVN and the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam HVPN have prepared a Rs 6,034-crore long-term plan and a Rs 1565-crore short-term plan to expand and augment power transmission and distribution system. The plan is to cater the load demand for the period up to the year 2021.
A spokesman for the Haryana Power Utilities said here today that rapid growth of Gurgaon had led to tremendous growth of load on the transmission system which is 20 to 25 per cent compared to 8 to 10 per cent in other areas of the state.
Under the long-term power transmission plan, the DHBVN and the HVPN would construct 486 additional substations, which include 11 sub-stations of 400 KV level, 32 of 220 KV, seven of 66 KV and 436 of 33 KV level. As many as 124 substations of 2775 MVA capacity would be constructed by the year 2011-12, while 192 sub-stations of a transformation capacity of 4000 MVA and 170 substations of 4000 MVA capacity would be set up during the period from 2012 to 2016 and 2016 to 2021, respectively, he said.
He said that at present, there were five 220 KV sub-stations of 960 MVA transformation capacity in Gurgaon, feeding 50 power transformers at 24 sub-stations of 66 KV level.
