MUMBAI, May 3: Vaibhav Lokhande slammed four goals in a row to help Khalsa XI rout Village Amboli 6-2 in the first round of the Bhiwandiwala Cup hockey tournament at the Niagaum Police Ground, today.

Hardeep Singh and Ashish Gonsalves completed Khalsa8217;s scoring while Everest Gonsalves and Andy Pereira reduced the margin for Village Amboli.

Arvind Sawant8217;s strike enabled MTF down Brother SC 1-0 in another first-round match.

EDGAR HAT-TRICK: A hat-trick by Edgar D8217;Sa enabled Vikhroli XI A8217; trounc BEST 5-0 half-time 1-0 in a first-round match of the MDFA Air-India Trophy knock-out football tournament at the St Xavier8217;s Ground, Parel, today. Abid Rizvi and Ronald Pinto completed the tally.

Kapil Pereira and Eric Dorriya scored in GB Police8217;s 2-1 win over Republicans in the Guru Nanak Cup first round. Aston D8217;Souza reduced the margin.

12 MARKS SUNK: As many as 12 marks were set on the first day of the Juhu Vile Parle Gymhana Club JVPG swimming meet today.

The records were set by swimmers from JVPG, Otters and Khar Gymkhana with oustanding performers being Tejashwi Shetty and Jay Shah JVPG with five and four gold respectively.

Other outstanding displays were put in by Roshan Nichani JVPG with two gold, Riyadh Palia, Sidhant Nagrani, Sindoor Thakkar, Rehan Poncha, Radhika Lakhani and Parikshit Shetty Otters Club.

In addition five Meet records were bettered. These included the 100m men8217;s breast-stroke, 100m boys butterfly, boys backstroke and the 100m and 50m girls8217; butterfly.

Pradeep Divgikar and Anand Pardeshi were veterans winners.

Meet records set: Jay Shah 200m amp; 100m men8217;s freestyle, JVPG; Backstroke in boys u-13; Tejashwi Shetty women8217;s 100m breaststroke, JVPG; Riyadh Palia men8217;s 100m backstroke 100m, Otters; Amol Borker boys u-15 100m butterfly; Sindoor Thakkar girls u-15 100m butterfly, Otters; Rehan Poncha 50m u-11 boys butterfly.
