
CHANDIGARH, June 21: The Prohibition, Excise and Taxation Department today seized 1,523 cases containing 18,276 bottles of Boxes and James Bond brands and 11,700 pouches of Indian Made Foreign Liquor IMFL from four godowns in Chhuchhakwas village, in Jhajjar district.
The liquor, manufactured in Madhya Pradesh, had allegedly been brought into the district in violation of the excise norms. Disclosing this here, Deputy Commissioner Jhajjar Arun Kumar said that the district administration had been receiving complaints regarding illegal sale of liquor in the district.
The value of seized liquor is estimated to be more than Rs 20 lakh. The department also arrested three persons 8212; Rajbir, Gori Shankar, and Gautam. An FIR was registered and more raids are expected to check illegal sale of liquor in the district.
