
SURAT, Aug 19: More than 700 employees of the Life Insurance Corporation of India Surat division went on a two-hour walk-out strike on Thursday. The agitating employees walked out of the Muglisara office around 11.30 a.m. and squatted outside for two hours, raising slogans against government plans to privatise the insurance sector and the fact that no new recruitments have taken place.
LIC Employees8217; Union Surat division General Secretary Jaimin Desai said that the two-hour walkout strike was part of a national agitational programme of the LIC Employees8217; Union.
Desai said that LIC has to start recruiting new employees, and the government should announce that it has no plans to privatise the insurance sector.
