Call for agenda 8226; This is with reference to Jayanthi Natarajan8217;s article, 8216;Single agenda, double standards8217; IE, March 27. With regard to offices of profit, the BJP has never asked for the resignation of Sonia but petitioned the President on the unprecedented move by the UPA government to adjourn Parliament sine die, attempting to bring in an ordinance by subverting the Constitution. Even in Jharkhand, the government never attempted to adjourn the Assembly to bring in an ordinance and instead, it tabled a bill and passed it democratically. There is nothing illegal or unconstitutional about it. Since the Congress party has been functioning like a proprietorship company, the Opposition is left with no other agenda except to nail the proprietor. 8212; B.R. Haran, Chennai

8226; Jayanthi Natarajan8217;s article on Sonia8217;s 8216;8216;sacrifice8217;8217; made interesting reading. She appears to be as obsessed with the BJP as the BJP is with Sonia Gandhi. According to her there was and is no ordinance. Then why was the House adjourned sine die? The answer to this question by the Congress8217; spokesmen has been that there was no pending business. It has been the habit of Congressmen to deny, deny and deny when confronted with uncomfortable questions. 8212; P.M. Narayana Rao, Vellore

Corporation heads 8226; Profit or no profit in the office held on the side, MPs and MLAs should not be allowed to head corporations as well and further milk our barren exchequer. Most of these corporations are mere duplication of the existing red tape and should be abolished to check unnecessary and wasteful expenditure. Only corporations which serve a realistic purpose should remain and be headed by technocrats with expertise in the area and mandate of the corporation. 8212; Aires Rodrigues, Mumbai

Burden on willow 8226; The ongoing one-day series between India and England is the test by fire for both the skippers. It has also been an opportunity for youngsters to register their presence before the cricketing world, because top guns are missing from both sides. Suresh Raina8217;s match-winning 81 runs in ODI series underscores that. However, while it is fine to let youngsters break in, the exit of Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman has placed an avoidable burden on Sehwag and Dravid. 8212; Sunil Chauhan, Sehore MP

Sixth shot 8226; Samresh Jung has done India proud by being adjudged the best athlete in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. It really is a pity that Jung, although a hot favourite having netted five golds and a silver, could not achieve the sixth straight gold purely on account of a faulty pistol. 8212; N. Radha Krishnan, Chennai

Intrusive record 8226; Menstrual cycles are a private matter of women. Maintaining a register with details of the date, month and time of menstrual periods of girls with their signatures at the Government Adi Dravida Students Welfare Hostel in Sholavandan in Madurai district is an act which even the aborigines in pre-medieval ages would have been ashamed of. 8212; Uma Radhakrishnan, Chennai
