AHMEDABAD, OCT 28: Kapil Dev, just two Tests old as Indian cricket coach, felt the administrative heat as Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI secretary JY Lele asserted his authority.

Kapil told mediamen today that the team should have 16 players so that there are enough bowlers to bowl to the batsmen. But when contacted in Vadodara, an angry Lele shot back: 8220;According to me there should be only 12 players in the team. I told Kapil that if I had my way I would have only 12 player. Three of the 14 players sit idle, so what is their use? Kapil will ask for 50 players! Can we oblige give? I told him to request the staging association to give him six or seven bowlers for practice. Why doesn8217;t he do that?8221;

When pointed out that quality bowlers may not be easily available in places like Ahmedabad, Lele lashed out: 8220;Is Ajit Agarkar 8212; he appeared here for nets with the Indian team despite not being part of the team 8212; a quality bowler?

Lele categorically said that the BCCI had not asked Agarkar to come to Ahmedabad. 8220;He has gone on his own. I do not know what he is doing there,8221; Lele said.
