Taking strong exception to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi8217;s remarks against Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, the ruling Congress on Thursday said the 8216;8216;Krishna government does not require any certificate from a person like Modi who, it alleged, had perpetuated heinous crimes in his state8217;8217;.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress office here, party spokesperson and Primary and Secondary Education Minister Prof B.K. Chandrashekar said Modi8217;s statements against Chief Minister S.M. Krishna was 8216;8216;politically motivated8217;8217;. He also pointed out that the shifting of the Best Bakery case to Maharashtra itself clearly showed the state of affairs in Gujarat. 8216;8216;We don8217;t need any certificate from a person who has committed unpardonable sins,8217;8217; Chandrashekar added.

Refuting Modi8217;s criticism that the Karnataka government had not transferred the funds collected from the public for carrying out relief works in quake-hit Gujarat, he clarified that Rs 20 crore was given to that state through a central agency for providing the necessary infrastructure and constructing schools in three affected districts. But, following reports that the Gujarat government was not utilising the funds properly, the remaining Rs 20 crore was kept as fixed deposits in the State Bank of Mysore and the Apex Bank, he said.

Chandrashekar claimed that the agency had complained it had not received proper feedback from the Gujarat government for the money spent on various relief schemes.
