HYDERABAD, OCT 29: Billed as the first such experiment in the country, the ICICI Knowledge Park, an ambitious project to provide world class infrastructure and networking facilities for business-driven indigenous research, was inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu near here on Thursday night.

The Rs 29 crore Knowledge Park, developed by the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India ICICI on a 200 acre plot at Turkapally, about 40 kms from here, offers a range of infrastructure and administrative support services including fibre-optic network for high speed connectivity and ready-to-use modular laboratory units.

Inaugurating the project at a glittering ceremony, Naidu, who had taken initiative in selling the unique concept, said the Knowledge Park was another milestone in his Government8217;s efforts to develop the state as the 8220;knowledge hub and information technology capital of the country.8221;

He assured his Government8217;s full support in promoting and marketing theproject which is aimed at serving as a knowledge-nurturing centre for leading-edge business driven research in India and as a gateway to multinational companies.

The park, complete with state-of-the art facilities to provide unbeatable advantage to research and development efforts, would act as a nodal point connecting all leading research institutions in the country including IITs, IIMs and CSIR laboratories, ICICI Chairman N Vaghul said.

Developed on the land provided by AP government, the park would serve as a repository of knowledge that can be converted into technology, he said.
