
Ten-year-old Tejinder Singh, who was kidnapped from village Samravan Khas on Thursday, was recovered today. Police have arrested three persons in the case.
One of the kidnappers, Sukhjinder Singh, is a resident of the same village and worked as a driver for relatives of the kidnapped boy. Police said lack of money for a marriage led to the kidnapping of the boy. The kidnappers had demanded Rs 30 lakh as ransom.
Among the arrested are Sikander Kumar of Dheena, Sukhjinder Singh of Partapura and Gurdev Kaur of Samravan Colony. The main accused, Amandeep Singh, is still absconding.
Police said Amandeep Singh of Kot Sadik wanted to marry his girlfriend and planned to kidnap the boy along with the other accused to generate money for the marriage.
The boy told the police that yesterday when he was going on a bicycle, a Honda City car stopped close to him and the driver asked the way to some village. He said after that he was pulled inside the car. The kidnappers took the boy to a lonely house in Samravan Khas village and kept him on the first floor of the house. However, the boy said he was not tortured in any manner.
SSP Pawan Rai said the boy has been handed over to the family and further investigation is on.
