BANGALORE, MAR 4: Opposition Congress leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, M Mallikarjuna Kharge today asked Chief Minsiter J H Patel to recommend dissolution of the Assembly and call for elections, saying the Janata Dal had lost the moral right8217; to govern in the wake of renewed dissidence in the party.

The resignation by two ministers protesting against the recent Cabinet expansion and portfolio reshuffle was itself an indication that Patel had no majority, he told reporters here.

He alleged that Patel had avoided a show of strength in the Janata Dal Legislature Party meeting recently with the help of the party high command to continue in power.

Kharge claimed that the adminsitration had totally collapsed8217; and the economic situation was deteriorating. He wanted the government to take up rehabilitation measures on a war footing for families displaced by the Karwar naval base project.
