CHANDIGARH, April 5: The three-day national seminar on 8220;School Education and the 21st Century8221; concluded at Guru Gobind Singh Bhawan, Sector 15, here today.

Guidelines in form of 8220;Khalsa Tercentenary National Declaration on School Education8221; were drafted by the Confederation of Boards of Secondary Education COBSE at the seminar.

Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, chairman, Punjab School Education Board, announced that a panel of experts would be formed in cooperation with COBSE for implementing various recommendations of the declaration.

The declaration addressed the need for evolving need-based, relevant and purposeful education. It also mentioned the urgent need for future-oriented curriculum reflecting national and international perspectives.

To upgrade knowledge, an effective teacher education programme was proposed during the seminar. The board has decided to constitute special subject-wise groups for deliberating on the possibility of using latest technology in finalising the curriculum with a special emphasis on 8220;learning-to-learn8221; and 8220;learning-by-doing8221;.
