Kerala minister resigns

K K Ramachandran, the controversial Health Minister whom the Lok Ayukta had pulled up over corruption charges before slamming him again for threatening an official who had deposed against him, tendered his resignation on Friday.

His resignation coincided with the Opposition Left preparing to take the issue to the streets. The Left youth organisations declared that they would not allow Ramachandran to take part in any public function unless he quit.

Ramachadran, who had been dismissing demands for his resignation since last week, was the third minister to quit the Ommen Chandy8217;s Congress-led government in Kerala in the last one year.
