Karat, Bardhan meet Sonia

CPIM General Secretary Prakash Karat and CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan on Monday met Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the issue of Andhra Pradesh land struggle.

Among the demands they raised during their 10-minute discussion with the UPA Chairperson included constituting an independent Ministry of Land Reforms and appointing a land commission.

They also raised the point that the cultivable land identified by the people in the land struggle should be distributed to eligible people and pattas be issued to plug loopholes in the Indiramma Scheme Implementation by the state Government.
