MUMBAI, MAY 5: Tamil Nadu8217;s Kamla Chandra Babu pulled up the only upset result of the day even as most seeds prevailed on the third day of league matches of the All-India Ladies Snooker prize-money tournament at the Bombay Gymkhana today.

Kamla took just two frames to beat the seventh seed Amrita Mohapatra of Orissa 58-25, 69-53. Amrita did bring in some aggression in her game in the second frame but it never seemed enough.

Defending champion Ashwini Puranik continued with her unbeaten run alongwith second seed Judy Walia of Karnataka.

Ashwini, the top seed here, overcame an initial strong challenge by Anjali Sengupta of Maharashtra with a 64-58, 42-31 scoreline. Judy too faced little trouble in easing past Priyanch Gurnani, 61-3, 39-27.

Maharashtra8217;s Heena Khandelwal seemed to have found her lost touch today with a convincing win over statemate Anjali Sengupta. The former has had a tough tournament so far including an upset loss to Sangeeta late last evening.

The cueists play their final leagueties tomorrow, with the top two players from each group advancing into the knockout stage scheduled for Friday.
