LUCKNOW, DEC 28: Barring Samata Party, the alliance partners of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh have severely criticised the statement of Chief Minister Kalyan Singh threatening mid-term polls if the leadership in the state was changed.
While Samata Party leader Raghuvar Dayal Verma clearly stated that the party would not accept anyone except Kalyan Singh as the chief minister, the Loktantrik Congress, Jantantrik Bahujan Samaj Party, Janta Dal Rajaram and the Independent MLAs announced that their support was for the party BJP and not to a specific leader.
The alliance groups barring Samta Party said the chief minister8217;s statement was against democratic norms and spirit of coalition politics. The chief minister should have taken all the allies into confidence before coming out with such an important statement, they said.
These alliance groups, however, were of the definite opinion that the issue of change of leadership was an internal matter of the BJP and political stability of thestate should not be put at stake.
