PUNE, MARCH 23: After Maharashtra8217;s truncated campaign in the Ranji Trophy cricket tournament it8217;s time for both soul searching and evaluation of team and individual accomplishments.

Defeat on the first innings against Tamil Nadu at the Poona Club stopped Maharashtra8217;s race to the knock-out stage. While bowing out of the competition, the team scored 3503 runs for the loss of 88 wickets in 1256.4 overs. They conceded 4224 runs off 1441.3 overs to the opponents while scalping 119 wickets.

Four players 8212; Siddharth Godbole, Mahindra Gokhale, Sachin Nair and Parag Shahane made their debut during the season.

Skipper Surendra Bhave broke the 6,000-run mark while playing his 110th Ranji innings, against Tamil Nadu. Bhave, in the process, also surpassed Milind Gunjal8217;s record of 109 innings.

Abhijit Kale topped Maharashtra8217;s run-getter8217;s list with 686 runs three 100s and as many half-centuries. Bowling milestones include pacemen Iqbal Siddiqui haul of 32 wickets acirc;euro;rdquo; the seasons highest. The feat enabled Siddiqui equal Vittal Joshi8217;s all time haul of 142 wickets.

Another young pacemen Sachin Nair bagged five wickets on debut against Delhi, thus becoming 11th bowler to claim five wickets in his first match.
