Indian shooters are leading with 11 gold, four silver and one bronze on the fifth day of the competitions while their closest rivals Australia are second with 7-5-3.

However, India saw a reversal of fortunes in women8217;s 25m pistol individual event with Sushma Rana and Saroja Kumari finishing outside the medal bracket.

But India can hope for a medal from Manavjit Singh, who shares the lead with Australian Michael Diamond after a first round of 50 in which he carded 49 2425.

Jung, who has already won a silver in his first event, displayed his versatility in the 50m pistol, beating defending champion Mick Gault of England. Jung shot a total of 650.2 while Gault fired 645.9 points, which was way below his own record mark of 657.5 scored in Manchester four years ago.

Another Indian in the fray, Vivek Singh missed the bronze by a whisker to Roger Daniel of Trinidad.

However, Jung 35 will be the hot favourite for the remaining individual pistol titles.

Narang, expected to corner the most golds after Jung, eclipsed the previous mark of 691.9 made by Bangladesh8217;s Asif Hossain in the 2002 Manchester Games. R ESWAR
