
The race to capture Hollywood superstars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on camera took an ugly turn when their convoy knocked down a student on the busy Senapati Bapat Road today evening. Eyewitnesses said the vehicles were trying to dodge international paparazzi when the incident took place.
They said the convoy also jumped the signals on Senapati Bapat Road and after knocking down the student, who was on a motorcycle, sped away. Though no one was injured, the motorcycle was damaged.
The student, Mittal Rawat 19, has reported the incident to the Janwadi police chowki. Rawat told The Indian Express that he was on his way to Vaikunth Mehta Chowk at around 5 pm when the incident took place.
8220;Two vehicles were also proceeding towards the same direction and tried to overtake me. One of the vehicles brushed against my motorcycle and I fell down. Both the vehicles then sped away,8221; he said.
Eyewitness Nikhil George, a student, said the two vehicles had jumped the signal at the chowk. 8220;Soon after jumping the signal, one of the four-wheelers hit the motorcycle. The rider and a girl riding pillion fell, but had a narrow escape,8221; he said.
George said they followed the cars till Sindh Society. 8220;The cars entered the Sindh Society but when we tried to follow them, the securitymen at the society prevented us from entering,8221; he said.
One of the drivers in the convoy confirmed to The Indian Express that the vehicle that knocked down Rawat 8216;s motorcycle was part of Pitt and Jolie8217;s convoy but neither of the actors were in the car. 8220;It was the car with the securitymen,8221; he said.
Rawat is a third year BSc student and stays with his younger brother at Thergaon. Rawat 8216;s father Manmohan Singh had come to Pune to meet his sons. 8220;I spoke to Mittal over the phone after the accident. Thankfully, he is not hurt,8221; he said.
