Railways jumps into action to combat train delays due to fog, rolls out 5-step plan

Train late news: The Ministry of Railways has jumped into action after frequent delays affected several trains, including premium services to reach their destinations. Now, the national transporter has unveiled a five-step plan to curb fog-related disruptions and ensure smooth and seamless train operations. However, the passengers are advised to check the train running status on the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) before leaving home for their journey.

Railway Ministry’s 5-step roadmap to ensure train punctuality during fog

The Ministry of Railways has announced the following five measures to ensure seamless train movement amid dense fog and ongoing cold wave–like conditions across North India:

  • GM/Northern Railway, GM/North Eastern Railway, GM/North Central Railway advised to take real-time stock of trains and address issues including catering.
  • DRM/Delhi, Lucknow, Moradabad, Banaras, Prayagraj advised to take real-time stock of trains and address issues including catering.
  • Spare rakes for Vande Bharat Express and Shatabdi to be made available for right time start of trains. A few examples:
  1.  20-car Vande Bharat rake available is being utilized for right-time start of New Delhi –Varanasi services.
  2. Another 20-car rake available with Northern Railway as maintenance spare being utilized for right-time start of Vande Bharat services between Varanasi and New Delhi.
  3. A 20-car Vande Bharat rake nominated for augmentation of 16-car Vande Bharat service is being moved from Western Central Railway to Northern Railway for right-time start of Vande Bharat services.
  4. In East Central Railway & Southern Railway, 2 AC rakes are being formed with available coaches for use to make right time start of late running trains.
  5. Arrangement of catering to be made by IRCTC for spare rakes.
  6. Arrangement of OBHS/Linen will be made for spare rakes
  • Monitoring trains from Railway Board and taking real-time action.
  • War room at IRCTC be made operational for real-time monitoring of trains and to address catering-related issues.
