Manmeet8217;, a hang-out joint which opened just three months back, on Fergusson College Road, has already established a name for itself among the youngsters. Apart from its good decor, and a sort of replica of the MacDonald logo, one thing that makes this place so popular is its Basket Chaat8217;. The name simply because it incorporates a sum of 25 items into one huge basket, which also has to be eaten! The idea being originally from Lucknow.

The owner, Mr Bharat Ahuja, has tried to bring a part of the Uttar Pradesh to Pune city. The best time to be here is obviously in the afternoons when all the college junta hangs out in huge lots because of the reasonable prices which is very student-friendly.

Serving only North Indian delicacies, Manmeet has to its credit Chole Bhature, and Gulab Jamuns also. Adding to the lists of chaats 8211; there is a badam chaat, aloo tikki chaat which has a great combination of crisp, fried potatoes as toppings with the tikki camouflaged under huge heeps of curds and papdis on the sides, mingled with all those chutneys, thoroughly add to the temptation. Kabuli chaat, dahi batasha, pudina puri, saunth papdi, kanji bada, name it; they have it all! Their new additions are aloo paratha, kulfi and faluda. The Sunday special is 8211; Lucknowi Khasta a dish which is really spicy and Green Mattar. The regulars like pani puri, pattice, burgers are available on the menu.

H.D. Maurya, the head cook is the man behind these innovative chaat dishes, who has had several T.V. shows on Doordarshan and Star Plus to his credit. Maurya churns up these mouth-watering dishes, which have the young Puneites freaking out. Some of the regular customers there, like Captain Pankaj and Captain Vaibhav say, quot;This is the only place that reminds one of Delhi.quot; This has the proud owner beaming.
