
The JDU today said it is in favour of a second term for President A P J Abdul Kalam. Party general secretary Arun Kumar Shrivastav said this to reporters here today.
When reminded about the deliberations at the last NDA meeting on the issue, Shrivastav said, 8220;Our party chief Sharad Yadav had made a suggestion for a second term for the incumbent at the same meeting.8221; However, on the possibility of the NDA fielding Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, he said, 8220;We are with the NDA and we would want a nominee of the NDA to become the President.8221;.
Earlier, Shrivastav led a JDU delegation to the Election Commission, Press Council of India and the Editors8217; Guild of India to demand a ban on individual advertisements in elections.
