The controversy over the Jamia Nagar encounter has witnessed the resurfacing of old camaraderie. While the reason for the demand for a judicial inquiry into the incident by a section of local Congressmen 8212; supported by Union Minister and Chandni Chowk MP Kapil Sibal who, however, remained behind curtains 8212; was obvious in an election year, what has provided some food for thought is the seeming unity displayed by veteran leaders like Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. While Singh found national interest in Jamia Millia Vice-Chancellor Mushirul Hasan8217;s decision to provide legal aid to the accused, Dikshit was sympathetic towards the demand for a judicial inquiry, assuring a party delegation that she would take it up with the PM. The timing of both these moves 8212; when the PM was out of the country 8212; has caught the attention of some old timers. Singh and Dikshit were once a part of Congress Tiwari.
